Venue
The 20th IFL symposium is hosted by the University of Hertfordshire on its recently developed deHavilland campus. This page gives an overview of what to expect from the conference facilities, leisure and sports on campus and the beauty of the surrounding countryside.
Conference Facilities
The symposium will be hosted in the conference facilities on the deHavilland Campus. There is a frequent bus shuttle to the main bus stop for National Express buses towards all London airports and to Hatfield railway station for trains to London and The North.
Accommodation
Registration for IFL 2008 includes an en-suite room in the university’s on-campus accommodation, just minutes away from the conference facilities. Each room includes a telephone, small refrigerator, tea and coffee facilities, and internet connection. Furthermore, you will be able to indulge in a Full-English Breakfast each morning. For those, who would like to get an impression of the rooms, Conference Hertfordshire provides a virtual tour.
For a fresh start in the morning, or to keep your body and mind in balance after a long day of presentations and talks, the symposium-package includes complimentary use of the university’s on-campus swimming-pool and gym. So remember to bring your swimming and sports gear.
Hertfordshire
Hatfield is conveniently located on the footsteps of London and at the same time just far enough away to be surrounded by the beautiful countryside of Hertfordshire.
Why not come a day early and visit one of the many houses and manors, and relax in the tranquillity of their parks and gardens.
Or spend a visit to St. Albans and wander around the cathedral, discover the life in Roman Britain or drink a real ale in the hometown of CAMRA.
And if, after all, the beauty of Hertfordshire cannot outweigh the buzz and shops of London, first captial connect brings you to London King’s Cross within 25 minutes.
